Rosacea-
Rosacea is chronic, inflammatory skin condition. There are several types of Rosacea, all are generally characterized by redness (erythema), and often acne-skin break-outs. Each person has different combinations of various symptoms. So, sometimes what one person
does for their symptoms is not what another person can use.
Here are some things that are used for Rosacea:
Azelaic Acid-it is a natural ingredient produced by wheat and other grains. It provides rosacea with 3 important effects, it kills acne-causing bacteria, reduces inflammation (redness) and reduce pigment production. Side effects from azelaic acid therapy are rare.
Niacinamide-don't confuse this with Niacin!!!! they are similar but, not the same. Niacin can cause redness or skin flushing. Nicacinamide, also called Nicotinamide, is a vitamin B-Vitamin (B3). Niacinamide has been well studied on effects of the skin with rosacea. It is an anti-inflammatory helps with redness also and irritation, reduces excessive sebum production
and helps improves ceramide production. Topically applied Niacinamide has virtually no documented side effects. So, it is generally considered SAFE.
Ivermectin- controls the presence of tiny, nearly invisible mites called "Demodex" that live on our skin. They are considered armless and we don't know they are present. However, in rosacea the presence of these mites can trigger inflammatory flare-ups and are frustrating to us.
These are all used topically and you need to get a prescription from a a Dermatologist.
They come as ointments, creams, solutions and are free of allergens or any items to irritate skin.
I hope this Blog has helped you. I suffer from rosacea myself but, I do have control over it now. I don; use all the above but, I do use some of it. It has made such a change in my skin when I have a flare up. I find I get it when I am stressed!!!
