SKIN CYCLING?
This is a process that involves alternating the application of strong active skincare ingredients like exfoliants and retinoids to minimize the chance of dead skin cells to smooth and clarify the skin. some of the recommended chemical exfoliants are alpha, beta, or poly hydroxy acids (the gentle option) over physical versions like scrubs, which can be abrasive.
I find that the rice bran powder scrubs are great for sensitive skin. Dermalogica makes a great one.
NIGHT 2-RETINOL TREATMENT-Vitamin A a derivative is proven to reduce wrinkles and dark spots. The best way for applying is to START with moisturize, then followed with a retinol treatment and finish with another moisturizer to help prevent from dryness or peeling!
NIGHT 3 & 4-RECOVERY SKINCARE-The night focuses on fortifying the skin's moisture barrier with nourishing serums and moisturizers. Look for products with ingredients like ceramides and humectants such as glycerin and hyaluronic acid to lock hydration in.
THE OTHER SIDE OF SKIN CYCLING-
It could delay the results of your skincare. It may take slightly longer to see effects from skincare treatments like retinoids when you use them 2 or 3 times per week as opposed to daily.
IT MAY NOT BE NECESSARY FOR TOLERANT SKIN-If you skin can already handle consistent use of active ingredients like exfoliators and retinol, you won't get the most from skin cycling. (there is no reason to go backwards)
