THE BATTLE FOR CLEAR SKIN!

When I blog, I like to blog about something that will give you some good information.

There is so much information out there these days. It's everywhere and, you don't know what to do with all of it?

The one battle that has always been consistent in skin care is the one about ACNE SKIN.

People that have never had problems with breakouts seem to be having them now. flare-ups come and go from chronic stress to disrupted sleep. We need to forget about drying out the skin which usually leads to more inflammation and more breakouts. The biggest thing is the overdoing of products. We are a society that wants instant results. When I stated in this business 40 years ago was really nothing, it was hit and miss! everyone used Clearasil. Now, it's overwhelming with the products that are out there. It can be a vicious cycle. Here are a few things that might help you that I use with my clients.

Use a gentle cleanser with a salicylic or azelaic acid or something with milk thistle in it , this helps control sebum production and inhibits blackhead growth. But, my favorite right now is Differin 0.1% gel from the drugstore. this product also helps with dark spots it is a retinoid but in a small percentage of only 0.1%. And, yes, you need to moisturize even acne prone skin!!!!! You can actually improve acne with moisturizing alone. Hyaluronic acid or glycerin are ceramides. If, you don't moisturize you can trigger the inflammation all over again! Here is a schedule that I would offer:

After you cleanse your face use a oil free moisturizer with hyaluronic acid

then a retinoid and top that with moisturizer.

Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Water Gel is a good one!!!!!

And, in the daytime don't forget your sunscreen the cause of so many skin problems one being. A good one is LaRoche-Posay Anthelios Mineral SPF Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid.

Hopes this gives you some insight to this problem we all have now and then.
